Donate some of your time helping the Historical Society. Volunteer opportunities: Greeting museum guests, assisting at the museum including organizing the displays, research, organizing, and categorizing items and pictures in the archives.
There are also opportunities specific to teens/students:
Do you know a young person who loves history and is looking for community service opportunities? The historical society would love to have student volunteers this summer. We will be open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday 12-3 through the summer and students can help with research, writing articles, creating displays, running the gift shop, scanning photos, and lots of other activities. Your interests can help shape what volunteer work you help with. It’s a great way to learn more about how non-profit organizations like ours work with the community, grow your resume, and have fun! Those who are looking for a year long volunteer opportunity may inquire about becoming a student representative to the board. Meetings are the first Thursday of the month from 7-8 pm. The student representative will help the Society better understand the needs of this important group of community members, and will participate actively in board discussions.
Volunteers of any age and level of commitment are always welcome. We are an ADA compliant building and inclusive of all individuals. All you need is a love of history!

Description
Make a Difference in Your Community!
CVAC is a program of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chemung County.
CVAC provides education and opportunities for people of all ages to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. CVAC volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, hospitals, food pantries, and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. Our staff members work with agencies and organizations to offer individuals maximum flexibility and choice.
With CVAC you can either enroll as a Cornell Cooperative Extension volunteer to work directly with our programs, or sign you up as an affiliated volunteer and work with any number of partner agencies. In both cases, we match your interests to those of agencies needing your skills and talents.
