Board members are actively involved in organizational governance, and are expected to attend board meetings, participate in at least one board committee, and make a personal financial contribution.

Based on our recent review of board skills, connections, and experiences among current Board members, we are seeking new board members who will help broaden our current board. We especially encourage applications from people with human resource, legal, marketing/ media expertise, and strategic planning.

CCH envisions a community where any man experiencing homelessness has access to the resources, support, and environment to rebuild his life.

Description

Cornerstone Community Housing (CCH) is a community-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit incorporated in 1993. CCH was the vision of Rev. Eugene Bartell and volunteers at The Supper Club, a soup kitchen in East Baltimore, and inspired by Earl Johnson, a guest at The Supper Club. Earl and other guests put a face on "homeless" and raised awareness of the need for food and shelter. Realizing a need to do more than just feed people, Earl’s Place, a transitional housing program, was opened in December 1997. Earl did not live to see the results of his inspiration, but his memory lives on through the many men who are helped.

Earl’s Place is in Baltimore City and provides transitional housing and supportive services to seventeen men at a time. Annually 30-35 men are provided housing and support to work on their goals. Our second project, Prospect Place, opened in November 2015. Prospect Place is in Baltimore County. Using a Housing First model we provide permanent supportive housing to twelve men who were chronically homeless.

Our goal is to assist men who are homeless and in recovery from substance use disorder in reclaiming their lives, rebuilding relationships, obtaining permanent housing, and rejoining society as positive and productive citizens.
