INTERESTED VOLUNTEERS: If you are interested in this opportunity, please go to https://portal.wildliferescueleague.org/volunteer_questionnaire/ and submit the questionnaire. You must be 21 years of age for this volunteer position and live in Northern Virginia or Washington D.C.
Wildlife Rescue League is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in Northern Virginia whose mission is to support the rehabilitation of sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife and, through education, to foster the appreciation of our wild neighbors. We are always looking for volunteers who live in Northern Virginia (the cities of Alexandria, Falls Church, Fairfax, Manassas and Manassas Park, and the counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William, and Fauquier) to help wildlife in need. WRL depends on licensed wildlife rehabilitators, transporters, and helpline volunteers to achieve its mission.
We are currently looking for volunteers to transport sick and injured animals from wildlife veterinarians to licensed rehabilitators in the Northern Virginia area. Transports are requested by the vets and rehabilitators and coordinated through our helpline volunteers. Transporters sign up for 2 to 3 shifts each month, 2-5 hours each, when they are available. When the transporter picks up the animal, it is already contained for transport, and is typically in a small box. Any size car is sufficient. The transporter is not expected to perform wildlife rescues. Transporters must be in the District of Columbia or Northern Virginia.
This volunteer opportunity is an excellent way to learn about wildlife, meet wildlife rehabilitators, and help our native wildlife.
