Community Volunteers bring warmth to our patients' hospital experience. This program is designed for adults who wish to make a commitment to improving the experience of our patients and their families. Community volunteers are often drawn to placements in pediatrics, patient visiting and hospitality services. College Student volunteers often focus their energies on complementing the skills of the talented UI Hospitals and Clinics staff. This program offers those preparing for a career in the health sciences a variety of service opportunities providing hands-on experience in patient care. Popular placements include the Intensive Care Units, the Burn Treatment Center and Physical Therapy. The Junior Volunteer program is an eight week summer program that provides an opportunity for young people between the ages of 14 and 18 to volunteer in a health care setting. An emphasis is placed on exposure to different health care fields through weekly career seminars.
