Come have fun outside with kids this summer! Volunteers assist with one or more weeks of nature camps. Volunteers DO NOT have to work all summer. We'll work with your schedule!
Qualifications:
- Enthusiastic responsible adult
- Love the outdoors and enjoy working with children
- Energy, sense of humor, passion, commitment to sustainable living
- Previous experience with kids (preschool and/or K-5 th) helpful
- Background in the natural sciences helpful
- 1st Aid/CPR training helpful
Responsibilities:
- Help staff lead daycamps for children ages 3-4, 4 to 5, 6 to 8, or 8 to 11 years old.
- Assist with and/or lead nature study, outdoor adventures, scientific discovery, games, storytelling, and crafts.
- Attend training sessions prior to the start of camp.
- Assist with one or more weeks of camps, M-F.
Training: Training sessions cover natural history, teaching skills, leadership, and safety. Training happens Saturday, June 17th, 10 am-4 pm at our site in Alton Baker Park. Alternative training may be possible if you cannot attend.
Dates and Times: Summer Daycamps run in weekly sessions, Monday-Friday, June 26th-September 1. Each session has a unique theme. Camps run either three hours per day (9 am to noon or from 1-4 pm) or all day (9 am-4 pm). (See https://www.nearbynature.org/daycamps/)

Description
Nearby Nature's staff and volunteers lead nature walks, host school programs, teach daycamps, run special events, and work on environmental restoration projects. We are also a partner in the Network Charter School. Our home base is in Eugene's Alton Baker Park, where we serve as the City of Eugene's park host.
