Meal Assistance Volunteers for Hospice
OhioHealth Hospice in Athens (formerly Appalachian Community Hospice)
Hospice is looking for volunteers who would be interested in helping clients who live in local nursing homes and assisted living facilities with their meals. People at the end of life sometimes are weak and need help with cutting their food; others just eat more slowly; and others have lost their sight and need help identifying the foods on their trays. A little patience and encouragement can do a world of good. A volunteer for one or two mealtimes a week can make all the difference in the quality of life for our clients!
We are looking for persons who can make visits for an hour at lunch or dinner 1-2 days a week, including Saturday and Sunday.
There is a 10-hour training to be a hospice volunteer. These trainings can be completed at your own pace.
