Mission Statement

The mission of the Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse is building a safer, healthier community by preventing and treating alcoholism and drug abuse. CADA supports families, youth and adults through our prevention, education and public awareness programs in addition to providing treatment and referrals.

Description

Friday Night Live (FNL) Program:

Builds partnerships for positive and healthy youth development, which engages youth as active leaders and resources in their communities. Through a statewide network youth will develop advocacy and social skills, to help them become effective leaders while working on youth-lead youth-driven campaigns for their school campuses, as well as their community.

Daniel Bryant Youth & Family Treatment Center:

Provides drug and alcohol treatment services for youth ages 12-17 as well as education and support for their families through a combination of acupuncture; individual counseling; group counseling and education sessions on topics related to recovery, detoxification + withdrawal management, relapse prevention, family supports groups and family therapy.

Teen Court:

An innovative approach to juvenile justice, Teen Court acts as an early intervention for first-time offenders by diverting them out of the traditional juvenile system. All functions of Teen Court are carried out by teens, and sentences include jury duty, community service, counseling, and education classes.

Mentor Program:

Community volunteers commit at least one hour per week for one school year with a 4th-8th grade. The focus of the Mentor Program is academic, but also incorporated are activities that encourage the development of personal and social skills so they can build resiliency and self-esteem.
