The State of New Mexico reports that more than 2,000 children and youth are in foster care. They have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect, and every year, approximately 100 young people are likely to "age out" of foster care. At age 18, they leave the system without the life experiences and family/community supports all young people need to achieve their dreams and become successful adults.

Volunteer with NMCAN and make a difference in the lives of young people aging out of foster care (ages 14-26). Opportunitites range from building long-term mentoring relationships to coaching young people in order to achieve personal goals to helping out with annual celebrations and events. Comprehensive training and ongoing support is provided. Together, we can work toward ensuring every child and young person lives in a community where they are happy, healthy, and safe.
