Description

Lighthouse Academy at Newburg works with kindergarten-8th grade at risk/gap students in an Out of School Time program that offers academic and enrichment programs at NO COST to the families. he Lighthouse Academy has been commissioned a 21st Century Community Learning Center by the Kentucky Department of Education. This commission ties the center with the Jefferson County Public Schools and the Kentucky Department of Education to insure the students in our program receive the appropriate intervention in our Out of School time program. We are able to provide enrichment programs along with tutoring in areas such as reading, math, science, and technology. We also tie into the Jefferson County Public School day by utilizing research based computer programs that students access at their school and at our facility. The children who attend the Lighthouse Academy at Newburg have a safe place to grow and learn. We work not only on the academic skills improvement of our children , but also work to provide experiences designed to encourage the children’s development of moral character and leadership skills. This child -centered focus is alignment with best practices for afterschool programs.
