Why Girl Scouts

Do you like working with 5-6 year old girls who are in kindergarten and 1st grade? If so, this is the volunteer opportunity for you!

We are looking for adult volunteers, age 18 and up, that want to make a lasting impact and positive difference in the lives of young girls.

Requirements: The ability to pass a background check, complete a volunteer application and complete 6-hours of Girl Scout training. And, of course, the desire to have fun, while providing the BEST leadership experience available to girls today! YOU determine when, where and how often your troop will meet. Some troop leaders meet twice per month for 1 - 2 hours each time, while others choose to meet one time per month.

Mission Statement

"Girl Scouting builds girls of Courage, Confidence and Character who make the world a better place."

Description

Girl Scouts is for girls-and it ALWAYS will be!

In Girl Scouts, girls discover the fun, friendship, and power of girls working together. Through a myriad of enriching experiences, such as STEM hands-on events, extraordinary field trips, sports skill-building clinics, community service projects, cultural exchanges, and environmental stewardships, girls grow courageous and strong. Girl Scouting helps girls develop their full individual potential; relate to others with increasing understanding, skill, and respect; develop values to guide their actions and provide the foundation for sound decision-making; and contribute to the improvement of society through their abilities, leadership skills, and cooperation with others.

One of the most powerful results of living the Girl Scout Law is the ability to exercise and recognize true leadership. Being honest and fair, courageous and strong, using resources wisely, respecting yourself and others, and making the world a better place...these are values that our staff and our volunteers on a national and a local level continually teach, model, and reinforce.
