Urban Gardens - Railways Garden or Food Forest

Do you have a green thumb? We could use your talents to volunteer at our newly created Railways Garden located at 255 Homestead Avenue or Food Forest at 815 Wethersfield Avenue. Chrysalis Center promotes healthy eating......we are hoping to use the vegetables grown in this garden to supplement the produce given out to our "clients" at Freshplace Pantry, sold at our local Farmer's Market and used at our on site kitchen, La Cocina.

The garden is currently in the process of being cleared out and planted. We have invested in a compost system, trying to make it as environmentally efficient as possible. We need volunteers to commit to a couple hours once a week to help maintain it. (It could also be every other week with a partner doing the odd week.) This is a great opportunity to feel good about doing something you love. We are also able to give Community Service hours if needed. Please inquire for more information and an updated schedule.
