Can you spend 3-4 hours, on one or more weekends per season, helping us build and maintain trails? If so, then please consider volunteering with JORBA's Mahlon Dickerson trail user group and help us maintain some of the best multi-use trails in the state! This is a great opportunity to get outside, meet new people and give back to your community in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. We welcome anyone who wants to help out. There is no age limit but parents must accompany children under 18 years of age. The only thing you will need is some gloves and water. We will teach you everything you need to know.
Mahlon Dickerson Reservation, the largest park of the Morris County Park System, encompasses 3,200 acres of near wilderness and recreational areas, with over 20 miles of multi-use trails. One of the Reservation's outstanding features is Headley Overlook, one of the highest points in the Morris County Park System. Along the Pine Swamp trail, the highest point in Morris County, at 1395 feet, can also be found.
Most trail maintenance sessions last about 4 hours with snacks provided afterwards. We generaly meet once a month but don't have a set schedule for the year yet.
Please be sure to click the "I want to help!" button so we can add you to our contact list to inform you of trail maintenance dates and in case of cancelations or postponements.
