Compassion Care
Sometimes just holding a hand is enough to show you care.

You too can become the "Heart" of Hospice near where you live. Most volunteers feel personally rewarded through their offering of time, energy and compassion when they see how much they are able to help patients and families. Other benefits of being a Hospice Volunteer include:

Greater Self Knowledge from insights gained from relationships with patients and families

A deep sense of satisfaction in being there for someone during a scary time of life. They feel like they are making a significant contribution to the community and providing a service others would offer them, were they in need.

Volunteers typically help by:

Forming close bonds with patients and family members by Listening to patients and acknowledging their feelings in an unbiased way as they share their life story.

Supporting family members as they seek ways to comfort their loved ones.

Encouraging Laughter

Finding out a patient's most valued accomplishments,

Giving the caregiver a hand massage or an hour or two break.
