Are you a good listener? Are you looking to serve your community with purpose?

Become a ProMedica Volunteer! Our Volunteers are the heart of our hospice team. We depend on our hospice volunteers to help us provide the extra care our patients and their families need. Volunteers have a tremendous impact on the lives of the patients that they serve.

Volunteers offer support, companionship and compassionate help to our patients:

  • Volunteers provide a nurturing environment for patients and families.
  • Volunteers spend time with our patients sitting, talking, reading & listening to music.
  • Many patients are unable to get out and socialize as they used to. Our Volunteers bring the socialization to them and help to decrease feelings of isolation.

As a hospice volunteer, you will be oriented to the hospice program so you can understand our caring philosophy and goals. Volunteers have a critical contribution to the hospice experience. We work with your schedule & match you with patients in your community, so contact us today and let's make a difference together!

Volunteers offer support to our patients in facilities or private homes in the Glen Ellyn, Wheaton & Lombard areas.

Mission Statement

At ProMedica Senior Care, a not-for-profit, mission-based provider and part of the ProMedica Health System, we care for people nationwide but a single principle within Our Vision binds them together--we are dedicated to providing the highest quality health care services. We research, evaluate, train and implement the care programs that work toward the highest practicable level of well-being for our patients and residents. The footprint may be large, 26 states across the U.S., but instilling our proven care principles and protocols is just as broad in carrying out our commitment to quality.

Description

Hospice isn't a place. It's a philosophy of care. Our mission is called enriching life.

ProMedica Hospice(Formerly Heartland Hospice) is dedicated to providing patients with care wherever they consider home. Whether care is desired in the home a patient has lived in for years, a skilled nursing center or an assisted living facility, we tailor our caregiving to fit the patient's and family's unique needs.

ProMedica's caregivers enrich our patients' lives and provide support by developing individualized care plans, setting goals, encouraging personal choices, working together in caregiving decisions and supporting meaningful experiences. Our caregivers help manage pain and symptoms, enabling patients to live life as fully and comfortably as possible. Social workers and spiritual counselors create a comforting environment in which patients and families are able to share their thoughts, hopes and concerns. And special bereavement programs provide emotional support to patients and families who need help coping.

ProMedica Hospice supports the patient and family wherever they are in their health care journey, and upholds the patient's and family's wishes, goals and values. At ProMedica, we help preserve our patients' dignity, show them the respect that they richly deserve and provide compassionate care through our Caring Promises.
