Freshplace is a food pantry located in the Upper Albany neighborhood of Hartford at 255 Homestead Avenue. Freshplace is like no other food pantry as it offers its members case management, client food choice, cooking and shopping classes and healthy food choices.
Members must live in the Upper Albany neighborhood and are able to shop twice a month free of charge. Currently, Freshplace is open on Tuesday's and Thursday's from 10-2 pm and Saturday's from 9-1 pm. A staff person is always present and volunteers are needed on a regular basis to "co-shop" with members who come in by appointment. Volunteers will help clients to "shop" and interact in a positive way. Light lifting is necessary as we often help to bring the groceries to a client's car. This is a really "feel good" experience. Must be over 18 years of age.
