ABC Playtime, A no-fee preschool program for 3-5-year-olds needs teachers and aides! Our program runs from 10 am-noon at Santa Maria Urban Ministry, a non-profit organization located near downtown San Jose. Teachers are provided with a general, simple curriculum. Aides simply show up to play with the children and help the teachers. A typical morning includes free play, circle time, book-reading, snack time, a craft and outside playtime. Most students are Spanish-speaking, but no Spanish or credentials are required for teachers or aides- just a genuine love of children. We have a very sweet group of children who really love coming to ABC. We will need more volunteers beginning in Fall 2019.

Description
Each month we address the basic needs of our community with these services:
Emergency food for about 1,600 individuals, including about 700 children.
Clothing from our community donors.
In addition, we offer two educational programs for young people:
ABC Playtime-Children ages 3-5 are prepared for kindergarten academically and socially in our on-site facility.
Studio-Students grades 1-6 have access to our computer lab and receive assistance with homework during the school year.
