Santa Fe Animal Shelter

Dog Walker

Grab a dog, breath the fresh air and get some exercise! Like us, Shelter dogs crave a human connection and have a need for physical stimulation. Please consider joining our canine companion team!

During an afternoon shift (2-5 pm), our dog walkers provide an exercise, smelling and hearing enrichment activity for Shelter dogs as they walk them on our trails or play with them in the yard. Dog walkers are a crucial part of keeping these canines happy and healthy during their stay with SFAS.

You will be trained as a canine socializer & walker, which will also open you up to opportunities with Mobile Adoptions and Hounds around Town.

About Santa Fe Animal Shelter

100 Caja Del Rio Rd., Santa Fe, NM 87507, US

Mission Statement

Since 1939, the Santa Fe Animal Shelter has been dedicated to its mission: support animals, save lives, spread compassion.

We are northern New Mexico’s largest open-admission, no-kill shelter. Our Live Release Rate is currently at 94.2 percent.

As a private, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, we receive nearly all of our funding from private donors in our community and beyond. Santa Fe Animal Shelter focuses on spay/neuter programs to control overpopulation, creative adoption efforts to bring pets to loving families and dozens of programs providing support for marginalized animals.
