Volunteers are needed to help in the office with the Medicaid for Elderly and People with Disabilities program, (MEPD). Tasks include: handle and process mail, complete reports, agency and community referrals, assist applicants complete forms for assistance, collate forms, compile folders, answer the phone, interpret and assist with purging records.

Description
The Texas Health and Human Services Commission offers a learning opportunity in the Eligibility Services Program. This program helps to provide low-income families with basic food, financial and medical assistance through the following programs: Food Stamps, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, (TANF), and Medicaid. Tasks available to volunteers are varied and placement is based upon the volunteer's interest, capability and the availability of openings. This placement offers valuable office experience and an insight into social services and the relationships between federal, state, community and individual needs.
