CWEALF seeks passionate and committed volunteers to help fulfill our mission and support our Information and Referral (I&R) help line. Our Information & Referral program is a unique service that works to increase access to justice for women and marginalized communities. Trained volunteers answer calls and emails to provide clients with free legal information on civil matters such as family law, employment issues, housing, immigration, educational equity and civil rights, as well as attorney and community agency referrals. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this is a remote volunteer opportunity for Connecticut residents.
Because we provide in-depth training, we ask I&R volunteers to commit to a minimum of six months of service. No previous experience required.
This volunteer opportunity directly helps women and people in the community. Responsibilities include:
- Answering telephone calls and email inquiries on legal matters such as family or workplace issues
- Collecting demographics and inputting data into our software
Requirements:
- A minimum commitment of six months
- Must be available at least1-2 days per week for 2-3 hours per day, between Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. (specific days and times are flexible)
- Compassionate, cultural competency, and ability to work with diverse populations
- Good listener and problem solver
- Spanish speakers and speakers of other languages a plus
This is a highly rewarding volunteer opportunity and we equip you with the tools and training you will need. We welcome volunteers of all industries and backgrounds. No previous experience required. If you have questions or require accommodations to apply, please contact drhone@cwealf.org.
Our Policy: CWEALF does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, national origin, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, or immigration status.
