This is actually an in person opportunity, not virtual, but locations are assigned after registration. They are in southeast Michigan, USA.
Join a team to search for bugs in the Rouge River as part of a long term scientific study. Volunteers must pre-register and will be assigned to a team. Meet at the Plymouth Cultural Center for refreshments, an introdution and to meet your team. Teams carpool to two different sites where they assist their team leader in picking out bugs in samples. Volunteers must dress for the weather and have own transportation. Children 8 and older welcome when accompanied by a participating adult. Groups of no more than 6 people.

Description
Friends of the Rouge is an environmental non-profit organization that has been promoting stewardship of the Rouge River watershed for over 15 years. We run a large environmental education program for schools within the Rouge watershed. We also coordinate a variety of projects for volunteers, adult and youth, individuals and groups. These activities include monitoring environmental quality, neighborhood-based environmental education and pollution prevention, stream cleanups and many other environmental restoration/preservation activities.

- This is a Done in a Day opportunity and there is no prior training or ongoing commitment needed.
- Driver's License Needed
- Must be at least 10
- One day plus optional online orientation.
- Interest in the natural world. Must dress for being outdoors for several hours and be able to walk through woods along the river at sometimes tricky sites to get into.
