This is actually an in person opportunity, not virtual, but locations are assigned after registration. They are in southeast Michigan, USA.
Join a team to search for bugs in the Rouge River as part of a long term scientific study. Volunteers must pre-register and will be assigned to a team and will get directions to their first site where they assist their team leader in picking out bugs in samples. Teams sample two sites. Volunteers must dress for the weather and have own transportation. Children 10 and older welcome when accompanied by a participating adult. Groups of no more than 6 people.
All volunteers must agree to follow covid prevention protocol.

To restore, protect, and enhance the Rouge River watershed through stewardship, education, and collaboration.
Friends of the Rouge is an environmental non-profit organization that has been promoting stewardship of the Rouge River watershed for over 15 years. We run a large environmental education program for schools within the Rouge watershed. We also coordinate a variety of projects for volunteers, adult and youth, individuals and groups. These activities include monitoring environmental quality, neighborhood-based environmental education and pollution prevention, stream cleanups and many other environmental restoration/preservation activities.
