GENTIVA is a provider of hospice care throughout the U.S. and offers caring, compassionate medical care and support for end-of-life patients and their families. Our focus is to maintain dignity, enhance the quality of life and provide comfort. By working with GENTIVA Hospice you can be someone's last "best friend." Volunteers provide companionship and support for patients and their families during the final days of life.
Specialized volunteers such as Vigil, Veteran to Veteran and Bereavement volunteers support patients in a variety of different ways. Other volunteers provide music or pet therapy. Volunteers Administrative volunteers help with filing, making copies, and organizing.
While training, background checks, TB test and drug screenings are necessary to volunteer, the rewards of this opportunity far outweigh the requirements.

Description
Hospice is not a place; it is a philosophy of care that enhances life as it nears its end for terminally ill patients and their families. When medicine cannot provide a cure, hospice care offers comfort and assistance to help maintain a better quality of life for the patient and family.
This type of attention, called palliative care, involves the aggressive treatment of physical, emotional and spiritual pain and symptoms. It focuses on enhancing patient comfort and quality of life, and provides psycho-social and spiritual support for both patients and their loved ones. Gentiva believes that through sensitive, appropriate care and the support of a caring community, patients and families can begin to prepare to face the inevitable challenges ahead.
