Gentiva Hospice: An Affiliate of Kindred at Home
Hospice is a medical specialty dedicated to the support and care of persons with limited life expectancies, so that they may live as fully and comfortably as possible. The hospice philosophy focuses on maintaining the quality of life for each patient. Our interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals and volunteers provides caring support to the patient and their family.
Hospice Volunteer Program
Volunteers are an integral part of our philosophy. Hospice volunteers are there to hold a hand and listen, read, or write a letter, run errands or even help out in the office. Volunteers are there to step in when a family member needs a break, and they are there for family and friends after their loved one has passed away. Mission Statement
To provide compassionate care to those we serve during the end of life's journey through our commitment to clinical excellence and uncompromising service.
Description
Hospice is not a place; it is a philosophy of care that enhances life as it nears its end for terminally ill patients and their families. When medicine cannot provide a cure, hospice care offers comfort and assistance to help maintain a better quality of life for the patient and family.
This type of attention, called palliative care, involves the aggressive treatment of physical, emotional and spiritual pain and symptoms. It focuses on enhancing patient comfort and quality of life, and provides psycho-social and spiritual support for both patients and their loved ones. Gentiva believes that through sensitive, appropriate care and the support of a caring community, patients and families can begin to prepare to face the inevitable challenges ahead.
The commitment and spirit of Gentiva team members is embodied in one simple phrase, "YCCOM: You Can Count on Me."
