At GENTIVA Hospice we care for terminally ill patients and their families by enhancing patient comfort and quality of life. Volunteers provide companionship and support to patients and their families.
Volunteering with GENTIVA includes a number of different skill sets. Patient Support volunteers help caregivers and provide companionship to patients. Specialized volunteers such as Vigil, Veteran to Veteran and Bereavement volunteers support patients in a variety of different ways. Other volunteers provide music or pet therapy.
Administrative volunteers help with filing, making copies, and organizing. Volunteers also make lap blankets, seasonal crafts, small gifts and cards for our patients.
Volunteers expand the services we are able to offer patients and their families. We value them for their time and effort. Volunteers are very important members of our team. Won’t you join us?

Description
Hospice is not a place; it is a philosophy of care that enhances life as it nears its end for terminally ill patients and their families. When medicine cannot provide a cure, hospice care offers comfort and assistance to help maintain a better quality of life for the patient and family.
This type of attention, called palliative care, involves the aggressive treatment of physical, emotional and spiritual pain and symptoms. It focuses on enhancing patient comfort and quality of life, and provides psycho-social and spiritual support for both patients and their loved ones. Gentiva believes that through sensitive, appropriate care and the support of a caring community, patients and families can begin to prepare to face the inevitable challenges ahead.
