Overlook Hospice Volunteer

Hospice Volunteers provide companionship, respite care and support to hospice patients and their families. Volunteers provide a wide range of services...walking dogs, playing cards, watching movies, reading to patients, supporting family members, fixing a meal, running errands, gardening, sitting with patients who are actively dying and making bereavement calls.

In addition to general patient care volunteers we are always looking for veteran volunteers to visit our veteran patients as part of the "We Honor Veteran" program, musicians, alternative health care practitioners (massage, acupuncture, etc), dog therapy teams and bereavement support volunteers.

We are looking for volunteers to visit patients in their homes and in nursing homes in Southern Worcester County. Full training and ongoing support provided.

When responding please include your phone number.

Mission Statement

Setting the Standard of Excellence One Individual at a Time!

Description

Hospice care is considered to be the model for quality and compassionate care for people facing a terminal illness. At the center of hospice care is the belief that each of us has the right to die pain-free, with dignity and the comfort of knowing our families will receive the necessary support to allow us to do so.

Overlook Hospice Services provides a program of care to meet the needs of individuals, and their caregivers, nearing the end of life’s journey. Skilled professionals and dedicated volunteers help support both the patient and their families. Hospice Services helps relieve the physical, emotional, and social pain, which enables the seriously ill person to life at home with family, comfort and dignity. The support provides help to cope with the circumstances associated with a terminal illness

Hospice care is a philosophy of care that accepts dying as a natural part of life. When death is inevitable, hospice seeks neither to hasten nor postpone it.
