Hospice Volunteering

Do you have good people skills, enjoy being around people or love to share stories? If so, please consider becoming a patient companion volunteer with Adventist Health Hospice.

The main qualities needed to be a patient companion volunteer are an open heart and a listening ear. It is about the gift of your presence and spending just a little of your time to sit with those who are facing terminal illness. Sometimes, it’s just to talk or read or share stories and other could help record a life history, or play cards or board games. It’s as individual as you are. A volunteer’s presence helps to lessen a patient’s loneliness by providing companionship. And caregivers find relief when a volunteer comes by to stay with a patient while he or she enjoys some badly needed personal time off.

Our volunteers work in the field - in patient’s homes, adult family homes, or nursing homes, wherever a patient might call home. Hours and time commitment are flexible. We offer great training and ongoing support to ensure that you will feel comfortable in your work as a valued member of the Adventist Health Hospice Team!
