Literacy Council of Carroll County
The Literacy Council of Carroll County offers adults free, confidnetial, one-on-one tutoring in reading, basic English, math, ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages), and basic computing.
Students are assessed and tutors and students are carefully matched. They meet one to two times a week in the Literacy Council Tutoring Center or other community location. The Literacy Council offers training, support, and resources to tutors and students. www.literacy.carr.org

The Literacy Council's mission is to provide adult learners with one-on-one, free, confidential tutoring to develop or improve skills in speaking, reading, writing, math, English as a second language, and basic computer knowledge.
The Literacy Council accepts referrals for students who need help with basic reading, writing, and mathematic skills. Students' needs and goals are individually assessed and they are matched with volunteer tutors. Tutors are trained in the Laubach Literacy system. They meet with students in community locations for 1-2 hours per week to provide one-on-one tutoring.
