At Horizons for Youth, our mission is to transform children’s lives by providing targeted resources, rooted in education, in a trusting partnership with their families and communities.
Each of our programs and support services was developed through a responsive formula of listening to our students’ and families’ needs. Combined, our unique programs and services ensure that our students and families have the skills needed to succeed in the classroom and beyond.
The Horizons for Youth Tutoring Program helps each student reach their full potential through one-on-one tutoring with a student. Tutors will meet for one hour per week with their student to work on a specified subject or area of needed improvement. We ask tutors to fill out a survey detailing their comfort level in certain subjects and grades, as well as their preferences to give tutors the most worthwhile volunteer experience possible.
*Tutors must be able to commit a full semester (or school year) with their student to ensure stability.
**All Volunteers will be required to undergo a background check as a part of their onboarding process.
