The Vermont Foodbank is the only Foodbank in Vermont and our goal is to feed our hungry Vermont neighbors in all corners of the state. To do this, however, we rely on volunteer support. We are now reaching out to all of you because we are in need of some wonderful volunteers at our Barre Distribution Center.
One in 4 Vermonters is experiencing hunger and the Vermont Foodbank is working to ensure that no one in Vermont goes hungry. Through a network of 225 food shelves, meal sites, schools, and senior centers, we are providing millions of pounds of quality food every year (this year our goal is 12.5 million pounds of food distributed to those in need). When we receive large donations from supermarkets, the goods need to be sorted and packed so we can quickly distribute them to our neighbors in need. This is where we’d love your help!
Barre volunteer hours are Monday through Friday, 9am-3pm (half-day options available). Volunteers must be able to stand on their feet for 2 hours, lift up to 30 pounds and be 16 or older, or 14 and 15 accompanied by an adult. Groups and individuals welcome to sign-up!
We have lots of food to sort and distribute so any number of helping hands is very much appreciated. Our facilities could use your assistance anytime - once a week or once a year - all help is great help. Volunteering with the Vermont Foodbank is a great way to go out and do some good for our Vermont neighbors and friends.
