Refurbishing

Computer technicians are needed to help refurbish apple iPads, Apple MacBooks, Windows laptops and Windows desktop computers. This equipment will then be used to support our digital divide and technology access programs serving students, low-income families, non-profits and schools in Washington DC. Computers are essential for distance learning and for social distancing during the COVID-19 crisis. Ideal for experienced technicians, Students in A+ training programs needing technology work experience, or people wanting to gain entry in the technology field through genuine work experience. Our volunteers regularly gain employment in the technology sector as a result of this work experience.

We also need technicians to train and support seniors and homeless people in Washington DC who are staffing a free computer help-desk for disadvantaged people in DC, Maryland and Virginia who otherwise cannot afford technical support. In the process, homeless people get training and experience for employment in the technology industry. This is a new project for us, so technicians with experience designing and staffing a telephone-based technology support help desk are especially important.
