Mission Statement

Next Step Ministries seeks to change the lives of individuals with cognitive and physical challenges through programs that reinforce their inclusive place in society.

Description

At Next Step Ministries, we serve our community through the use of three main programs. Our programs serve as a gap-filler for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who have aged out of the high school system and are generally not able to participate in "career-ready" programs.

The Therapeutic Day Program strives to reinforce fine motor, gross motor, and computer/academic skills previously learned at home and school. This is done through a structured schedule with qualified staff that includes activities such as sensory boxes, chair Zumba, art, and music.

Job Skills/Job Skills Extension serve our moderate to high-functioning clients. The main goal of this program is to get our clients to be as independent as possible. Clients participate in activities such as laundry, sweeping, completing jobs from the community, and volunteering as well as participating in art and music therapy.

The Saturday Respite Program is offered every first and third Saturday of the month from 10:00am-3:00pm. Saturday Respite is a more relaxed day where we watch movies, play board games, and eat pizza for lunch (volunteers too!). This is a great socialization opportunity for our clients. The third Saturday is especially fun because we have Happy Tails (therapy dogs) come in and interact with everyone.
