During these uncertain times, how can we help?
See below to access our COVID-19 Resource Hub, and to explore our growing directory of both COVID-19-specific and virtual volunteering opportunities.
Want to make a difference?
Are you a proponent of food security? Are you interested in spending time in your neighborhood and/or perhaps exploring somewhere new? If you answered yes to any of the above, one of the following may be the role for you:
Consider delivering meals to homebound individuals if you have an hour or two once-a-week or even just once-in-awhile. Routes are varied and can be arranged in proximity to your home or place of employment. Outside of some assignments on Staten Island, most volunteers in this role complete deliveries on foot.
Consider combating food waste by helping to pick up leftovers from businesses and restaurants and bringing them to nearby, predesignated shelters and soup kitchens. This opportunity offers flexible scheduling and remote staff support during "rescues," which are mostly on foot. Operations currently exist in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens.
Guess what?! There are even more great opportunities for volunteers 55 and older in all 5 boroughs!
RSVP works with over 250 other partner organizations as well. If this opportunity is not for you, we can help you find another that is. Attend one of our Learn and Link events or schedule a placement interview today!
**Please note: all RSVP volunteer opportunities are for individuals 55 and older; also, most assignments are with our partners located across the City**

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) was started in 1966 by the Community Service Society (CSS), an over 170-year-old nonprofit agency. CSS's mission is to identify problems which create a permanent poverty class in New York City, and to advocate the systemic changes required to eliminate such problems. CSS will focus on enabling, empowering and promoting opportunities for poor families and individuals to develop their full potential, to contribute to society, and to realize social, economic and political opportunities.
RSVP matches adults 55 and older with meaningful volunteer opportunities at New York City nonprofits. With more than 2,300 volunteers, RSVP in New York City is one of the largest senior volunteer programs in the nation. There are over 600 RSVPs which operate nationally and many that do so internationally. We match volunteers on the basis of interests and abilities, community needs, geographic convenience, and experience.
We'll work with your schedule.
