Give back to the community by being a Volunteer tutor with the Albuquerque Adult Learning Center!

ABQ-ALC's High School Equivalency and Career Pathways Preparation Program is currently looking for volunteer tutors to help in all Adult Basic Education, Pre-High School Equivalency (HSE) and High School Equivalency Prep subjects. Volunteers will assist our instructors with daily classes for mixed and/or leveled programs (Literacy, Adult Basic Education, and HSE). We have openings for both in-person and online tutoring. Duties may include:

  • One-On-One in-person Tutoring
  • In-class support
  • Substitute teaching
  • Small group fast track tutoring
  • Online tutoring using Google Meet or Zoom

Morning, afternoon & evening times are available. If you are interested in the education field, this opportunity would be a great experience to practice your teaching skills and will even look great on your resume. This opportunity is also great for seasoned educators looking to give back to the community. We provide educational resources, tutor training, and support from staff. Prior experience working with at-risk youth and/or underrepresented minority adults a plus!

Please also note: Due to the time it takes to complete training and to find a learner who is a good match, this is not a quick-start opportunity, and we generally ask for a 6-month minimum commitment.
