Volunteers Needed to Support Teachers at our Free Teaching Tools Resource Store!

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Hillsborough Education Foundation

We know that our dedicated teachers will purchase supplies out of their own pockets before letting one of their students go without.

At our Teaching Tools Resource Center, teachers in Title I schools can shop for core school supplies and other resources needed for their classrooms.

Because of the community’s support, our Teaching Tools Resource Center provided Hillsborough County teachers and students with more than $4.1 million in supplies last year.

Our resource center is located at Hillsborough Education Foundation: 2306 N. Howard Avenue in Tampa and is open throughout the school year, July-May.

Qualifying teachers can shop twice per semester per our current policy. Last year, one monthly shopping trip averaged $407 in free supplies for a teacher.

The Teaching Tools Resource Center relies on dedicated volunteers to help us run the store when it's open for shopping. We are looking for some reliable and friendly volunteers to help us greet, check-in, and check-out teachers on Mondays, Wednesdays, and/or Thursdays. You may volunteer once, regularly, or a couple of times throughout the year, your choice.

1 Shift

  • afternoon / 02:30 PM to 05:30 PM
Afternoon shifts are needed throughout the year when the store is open for shopping - we need up to 6 volunteers per shift.

About Hillsborough Education Foundation

2306 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33607, US

Mission Statement

Our mission is to strengthen public education in Hillsborough County through advocacy, investment of resources and programs that empower every student to achieve both academic and personal success.

Hillsborough Education Foundation is dedicated to deepening our impact on students and teachers to ensure every student receives a high-quality education. We are particularly focused on creating equity and leveling the playing field in our highest needs schools. Together with our partners, we are investing in a prosperous future for our community.

Our work centers around making an impact, engaging our community to invest in education and ensuring our teachers have the necessary resources to provide all students with an equal opportunity to graduate and achieve success. By strengthening public education, we strive to build a better community to positively impact the lives of individual teachers and students, regardless of background or economic status.

We pride ourselves in collaborating with our supporters to ensure your gifts are used in the most impactful way possible. For every dollar our partners invest, 92 cents is used directly for programs supporting teachers and students. It is due in part to our dedication to be responsible stewards of donors’ contributions that we have earned a 4 Star Charity rating from Charity Navigator.

As a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, the Foundation provides Hillsborough County Public Schools with funding that is typically more flexible than restricted tax dollars. The funding and extra resources for the students, teachers, and schools helps to cover the gap that exists between what school budgets can cover, and what is needed to ensure the academic success of our students.
