Mission Statement

Food Assistance, Inc. "Groceries on Wheels" totally volunteer-driven, charitable, community outreach offering food, friendship, and hope to improve health and wellness to low income and disabled seniors in Guilford County, NC.

Description

Guilford county was listed as being #1 in the nation for food insecurity...many of them are seniors. We serve a variety of seniors from many backgrounds. they love to engage with FAI volunteers. They are very appreciative of the food, but more importantly the friendship and relationships that become established. Just spending a little time with someone and listening to their life story is an encouragement in itself. You too could be meeting a "national treasure" and claim an "adopted grandparent".

Feeling like volunteer commitments take too many hours from your already busy schedule? Consider FAI! For a commitment of 1 - 3 hours a month you could be engaging with some of our "hidden national treasures".

Volunteers take food once a month to low-income and disabled seniors assigned to them....set schedule. Notices are sent by email are sentabout distribution. Got a friend you could ask to team with you to make deliveries? Or perhaps your family could do this project together?

Volunteer teams (congregations, businesses, organizations) work at the warehouse to help organize and pack food. Assist route delivery volunteers to load food. Good group activity 10 -15 people.
