Are you 55 or older? Do you like to work with kids? If so, consider becoming a reading tutor through Interfaith Older Adult Programs. Volunteer at an MPS Elementary School of your choice for 90 minutes once a week and watch a child succeed! No previous experience is required; just a love for helping children succeed.
You choose the school, day, time and grade level you want to work with. You will volunteer in the same classroom with the same teacher and the same kids for the entire semester. Build lasting relationships and show MPS students that you care! Orientations are scheduled every two weeks. All the basics, and much more, will be covered in a fun interactive way that will have you asking yourself why you did not do this sooner.

Mission Statement
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is a national community service volunteer network for individuals age 55+ that is sponsored by Interfaith Older Adult Programs, Inc. Together, volunteers build the capacity and further the mission of local schools and non-profit organizations. Consider this your invitation to serve!
Description
How do RSVP members build capacity?
RSVP members take on leadership roles to help build the capacity of schools and non-profits. This can include serving on an Advisory Council or Board of Directors. It can also include serving as a Volunteer Coordinator for a school, a Grant Writer for a non-profit or simply an Advocate among peers.
How do RSVP members further the mission?
RSVP members serve in a variety of volunteer placements at each school or non-profit. These placements range from working directly with clients to helping behind the scenes. Each placement plays a role in helping the school or non-profit to provide services to the community. Whether by serving directly with clients, or by freeing up staff time to do so, RSVP Members help schools and non-profits fulfill their mission.
