ORGANIZATION: Friends of Five Creeks

Helping nature in the city
Helping nature while we shelter

On MLK Jr. Day of Service, join all-volunteer Friends of Five Creeks reviving nature in the city and learning fascinating local history. We'll control erosion, seed, and plant natives to revive a damaged part of Codornices Creek, our area's only trout stream. On a short nature walk, we'll also see other parts of this 25-year citizen effort to bring nature back to the city, looking back at fascinating local history that includes polluting industries and injustice.

We'll meet at the log seating area on the west side of 8th Street, on the Berkeley-Albany border and the south edge of University Village. Several AC Transit lines stop nearby -- check schedules.

Tools, gloves, and light snacks provided. Bring a re-usable water bottle. Wear closed-toed shoes with good traction and dress in layers for changing weather, prepared to get dirty. We will work in light drizzle, but heavy rain postpones. Kids 8 and up, teens, seniors, and groups of 10 welcome (please email f5creeks@gmail.com if your group is larger).

Numbers are limited -- register on Eventbrite here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/help-berkeley-and-albanys-only-trout-stream-on-mlk-jr-day-of-service-tickets-236172647747. Link also at fivecreeks.org.
