LEARN, the adult literacy program of the San Diego County Library, offers the following one-on-one tutoring opportunities in all county branches.
-Teach a native speaker of English how to read and write.
-Help a second-language learner to improve English literacy and verbal skills.
-Help a native speaker of English or a second-language learner pass an exam (GED, CBEST, ASVAB, etc.).
Tutors and learners meet twice weekly for an hour and a half each session, and tutors are asked to commit to working with at least one learner for a minimum of six months.
If you're able to volunteer 5 to 6 hours weekly, we encourage you to get involved, make a difference, and change a life!
