If you enjoy telling stories, interacting with the public and learning about the history of Maymont; join the dedicated mansion volunteer corps. Docent aide's greet the public; provide them with information about Maymont, the Dooleys, the Victorian Era and the belowstairs exhibition. They assist in crowd control by talking with visitors who are waiting and keep track of number of visitors in the Belowstairs exhibit.

Successful docent aides are good communicators, have a positive attitude, and are interested in history/art. Docent aides are required to volunteer at least one shift a month. Shifts are from 1-4pm on the weekends.

Docent aide's are welcome to attend the annual docent training in which you'll enjoy an in-depth look at Maymont, the Mansion, the Dooleys, their domestic staff and the Gilded Age, and gain skills to lead engaging and interesting interpretive tours through the Dooleys' opulent home.
