The WTA provides trainig programs and free computers for students, homeless shelter residents, and extremely low income adults in Washington DC. .
There are many foundations, corporations, and government agencies that are interested in engaging with programs like ours. We can even provide direct employee engagement programs for corporations and universities including overnight accomodations at the shelter, special events targeting potential supporters, and more. Yet, we do not have enough volunteers to build relationships, create the events and manage the logistics. Many of our programs are extremely cutting edge and could generate lots of interest, support and direct engagement, but we don't have the events people to drive this agenda forward.
Thus, we are in tremendous need of event coordinators to:
1. Create employee engagement events with local corporations
2. Create special events targeting potential supporters
3. We are open to your ideas for other events.
You will get plenty of real hands-on event management experience and visibility among corporations, non-profits and government agencies -- in the most compelling service location in America. Best of all, most of the work can be performed remotely from your home or office, but you are always welcome to work at our offices in the shelter

Pioneering Character and Technology Education Through Service Learning
Description
The WTA engages students, the homeless, the unemployed and underprivileged populations in technology service learning. They learn valuable technology skills while serving needy populations. They operate their activities as though they are managing a real technology company (they are...albeit non-profit!), thus gain management skills and job experience leading to gainful employment. Service learning activities include:
- Computer refurbishing: Pick up quality surplus computers from generous corporations and government agencies and place then into needy schools and families. Our volunteers pickup, refurbish, deliver, and train low-income recipients of computers. Others are shipped to schools where students refurbish and place them.
- Training classes - Training community organizations in Excel, Word, Powerpoint and other popular software applications
-Students in our project-based multimedia program produce web sites for organizations in their local community. From these programs has emerged a statewide student-based technology company called "WildTech Student Enterprises". The program begins by training teachers in project-based technology curriculum, procedures, and how to act as entrepreneurs leading self-sustaining student-based technology enterprises in their schools
