Big Brothers Big Sisters of Siouxland has a need for mentors to help children by being a positive role-model. It only takes a minimum of 4 hours per month to make a BIG difference in a child's life. We have serve children in Woodbury, Plymouth, and Sioux Counties in Iowa; Dakota County in Nebraska; and Union County in South Dakota. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid drivers license and car insurance. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Siouxland also requires references and will complete thorough background checks.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Siouxland enhances the social, emotional and character growth of youth through an arranged relationship with a screened and trained role model.
Description
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Siouxland is an organization that matches up children with positive adult role models. Most of the children in our program come from single-parent families and are lacking an extra support person in their lives. The children we serve range in age from 6-16. Volunteers can be as young as 16 or 17 (in our Junior Big program)...but most of our volunteers are 18 and up...all the way up to senior citizen age. It's found that when a child is matched with a mentor, they do better in school, they're less likely to use drugs and alcohol and their relationships with their family and friends are improved.
