JA Job Shadow

JA Job Shadow is an academically motivating educational activity dedicated to giving kids an up-close look at the world of work. The event at your workplace can be scheduled on Groundhog Day, February 2, 2017 or at a later date during the 2016-17 school year. An orientation for coordinators is provided in December 2016.

Invite middle and/or high school students from local schools to come spend the day with you and your coworkers to talk to students about what motivated you to pursue your chosen fields. Also discuss with students the specific skills that are required for your job so students can determine the level of education and experience needed to achieve their dreams.

Give students the chance to see how the skills they are learning in school relate to the workplace and will ultimately have an impact on their future. Help promote a successful workforce for tomorrow, and encourage young people to explore career options, pursue academic success, and continue on a path that will help them to achieve their aspirations.
