Main Street Children's Museum needs volunteers that know how to have fun!
Volunteers welcome and interact with guests, and make sure the floors are clear of manipulatives. They also aid educators with crafts/activities in the upstairs classroom and assist with cleaning.
Artist Vernon Grant’s work provides the inspiration for the Main Street Children’s Museum. Within this wonderful setting, imagination and curiosity merge into creative play! Nursery rhymes such as Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater and Simple Simon have been transformed into life-size, three-dimensional play and learning spaces for young children from birth to six.
PURPOSE: Ensure that visitors have a pleasant and rewarding experience by assisting education staff in maintaining the visitor space and by helping with activities for children.
DUTIES:
- Monitors all exhibit areas to ensure a safe play-based environment
- Maintains all exhibit areas by straightening up, as needed
- Cleans surfaces and materials according to cleaning schedule
- Assists and encourages families by modeling best practices in unstructured and child-directed play
- Directs or assists visitors with hands-on crafts
- Reads aloud with children; assists families in book selection, encouragement of reading, etc.
* Volunteers younger than 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian volunteering with them.
