The holiday season is a very special time of year filled with laughter, joy and anticipation. Children dream of having a gift to open as they anxiously wait for their wishes upon a star to be answered. But there are too many children in the Chicago area living through the holiday season without the gift of a family to call their own or whose parents are struggling just to provide them with basic necessities. For many of these children those dreams and wishes will go unfulfilled. Please help us make their wishes come true.

Children's Home Aid protects, educates and counsels children and youth to improve their lives. The Metropolitan Region serves over 5,000 children through programs including Foster Care, Residential Treatment, Early Childhood Care Education, Intact Family Services, Parent Support and Youth Services. These children are experiencing overwhelming obstacles such as mental illness, homelessness, abuse and neglect. They have seen the ravages of poverty and drugs, and many suffer the painful loneliness caused by separation from their families. These obstacles are especially difficult during the holiday season, as many of our families do not have the resources to provide their children with a holiday celebration.

Each year, Children's Home Aid staff and volunteers try to bring holiday cheer into their lives by answering their letters to Santa. There are several ways that you can help:

- Become a child’s wish granter. We will give you our children’s own holiday wishes upon a star. You can enjoy making their wishes come true and know that a child has received just what they asked for.

- Adopt-a-Family. We will provide you with a wishlist from one of our neediest families.

- Provide a donation of gifts or host a donation drive. We will match your gifts to a child’s wishlist.

- A donation of store holiday gift cards or a cash donation and we will purchase gifts on your behalf.

Gifts and donations can be dropped off between regular business hours at the following location:

• Children's Home Aid, 100 N. Western Ave, Suite 200 in Chicago

Wish lists will be provided in November and all donations will be collected by the second week in December.
