Hand Hygiene Observation Volunteers support the Infection Control Department at Hospital for Special Care. They observe hand sanitizing practices of clinical staff, document observations and submit them to Infection Control. This data is used to identify any areas that have increased need for hand hygiene education.

This is an ideal opportunity for nursing students or others seeking a career in the health care field. Volunteers are needed on second shift (3-11pm) and week ends. Training is provided. Hours are flexible and can vary week to week to work with your schedule. Be part of our mission to rebuild lives!

Description

Hospital for Special Care is a private, not-for-profit, 228 bed Long-Term, Acute-Care hospital licensed by the state of CT. as a chronic disease hospital. The hospital is renowned for its expertise in physical rehabilitation, respiratory care and medically-complex pediatrics. In addition, special programs are available in the treatment of spinal cord injuries and illness, acquired brain injuries, strokes and breathing disorders.

We also provide a full range of outpatient services, including physical, occupational, and speech therapy, rehabilitation evaluation, neuropsychology and pulmonary rehabilitation programs. The hospital also includes a 27,000 foot Aquatic Rehabilitation Center, which completes the full spectrum of rehabilitation and community fitness activities offered.

We also have a 28 bed satellite facility located within Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, CT. The satellite serves patients who are medically or surgically complex and/or require specialized care.
