Ursuline Senior Services is currently offering the Cart to Heart grocery shopping service throughout Allegheny County. We are looking for dedicated volunteers to assist homebound seniors (age 60 and over) in need of someone to shop for them.
Volunteers shop once or twice a month at a local grocery store and deliver the groceries directly to the senior. Volunteers assist with putting the groceries away and have a brief, friendly visit with the senior.
To volunteer for the Cart to Heart shopping service you must:
- Be 18 or older;
- Have transportation;
- Be willing to submit an application for a criminal background check.
This is a great volunteer opportunity for families, retirees, students or busy professionals. Shopping can be done during the day, evenings, or on weekends.

We have three distinct programs that are volunteer-driven, namely Checks and Balances, a bill paying program, Cart to Heart, a grocery shopping program, and Senior Reassurance, a daily call program.
