Interested in history and sharing one of Portland's premier attractions? Pittock Mansion is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to greet visitors in the Mansion during the Holiday season.
Mansion Holiday Host Description: Mansion Hosts sit in or circulate through the Mansion, greet visitors, and answer questions about the Mansion for the visitors. Volunteers will use the Guide's Guide and decorated room descriptions for reference. Mansion Hosts also assist visitors in operating the original Otis elevator.
Impact: Mansion hosts actively support the Mansion’s mission to inspire understanding and stewardship to Portland history through Pittock Mansion, its collections, and programs.
Training: All volunteers must submit a volunteer application, complete a background check consent form, and attend a 2-training.
Commitment: Pittock Mansion is open from 10am-4pm from November 25-January 5 (closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas). Each shift is 4-hours (10:30-2:30; 11-3; 11:30-3:30 or 12-4). There isn’t a maximum or a minimum number of shifts a volunteer must sign up for-schedules are flexible.
Information about the Holidays at Pittock Mansion: Enjoy the wonders of the season at Pittock Mansion’s annual holiday display, a Portland tradition for over 50 years. Volunteers and professional designers transform the Mansion into a holiday wonderland. This year, the theme is hobbies and pastimes such as stamp collecting, gardening, and the opera.
How to Apply: Please contact Kyla Foster at kfoster@pittockmansion.org or (503) 823-3587.
Note: All floors of Pittock Mansion are elevator accessible to those able to transfer to a manual/push wheelchair. The 1913 elevator cannot accommodate powered chairs or scooters, due to its size and weight limitations.
