Parents and teens volunteering together to provide emotional and social support for terminally ill individuals and relief for their family caregivers. Volunteers make friendly visits as close to where they live as possible. We see patients through out Orange County and the greater Long Beach area, wherever our clients call home. They could be living in their own home, a nursing home, a board and care or an assisted living facility. A visit might include playing a game, watching a movie, reading, listening to life stories, sitting quietly holding someone's hand, staying with the client so their family member can get out for a little while, grocery shopping, or lite household tasks. An opportunity for parents to share life issues with their teen.

Description
Remita Health provides end of life care to persons who can no longer benefit from curative treatment. The typical hospice patient has a life expectancy of six months or less. Most receive care at home. Some reside in nursing homes or assisted living. Services are provided by a team of trained professionals-physicians, nurses,counselors,therapists, social workers, aides and volunteers- who provide medical care and support services not only to the patient, but to the patient's family and loved ones.
