Do you like to read to others? The Iowa Radio Reading Service for the Blind is looking for you!
The majority of our volunteers read the newspaper aloud to our radio listeners.
IRIS reads every day of the year.
The Des Moines Register is read aloud each day from 9am to noon. Readers (in teams of 2) alternate articles.
First shift = 9am-10:30am. Second shift = 10:30am-noon.
We also welcome readers to record print information (magazines, local publications) during business hours.
Scheduling and commitment are flexible.
Those recordings are edited and broadcast on our statewide signal to print-disabled listeners.
