Volunteer Duties Volunteers assist 4 th, 5th and 6 th grade students in the development of reading and math skills while promoting positive behavior in order to enhance social skills. Volunteers engage in academic/physical activities with selected students either one-on-one or with small groups. Volunteer Responsibilities Volunteers must commit to work at least one semester and are encouraged to stay longer if possible. The program is active September-June, Monday-Thursday, 3:00-5:00 P.M. Fridays may be scheduled as needed with advance notification. Consistent, on-going support is necessary for the children and teachers with whom we work. Volunteers are required to complete the following: A general orientation training, arranged by the K.A.P. Program Coordinator One in-service training per semester, arranged by the K.A.P. Program Coordinator An evaluation of the program at the end of each semester, arranged by the K.A.P. Program Coordinator A background check must be completed for anyone that is 18 years of age and older Volunteers must provide their own transportation.
