Cheer an elder's day with Friendship and Flowers
What more cheerful way to brighten an elder's day than with Friendship and Flowers? Friendship and Flowers Visitors make visits to homebound elders living in nursing homes or alone in their own homes. Volunteers pick up homemade treats baked fresh by our baking volunteers and fresh-cut flowers we provide on the third Saturday of the month between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. either in Minneapolis or in St. Paul. Volunteers can sign up on a monthly basis and are not obligated to volunteer every month. Friendship Time commitment: 2 - 3 hours/month

Little Brothers - Friends of the Elderly’s (LBFE) sole purpose is to foster friendships between people over 65 experiencing loneliness and isolation and volunteers of all ages so both can enjoy the rich rewards of togetherness and companionship. The Minneapolis/St. Paul chapter of LBFE was founded in 1972 and ever since has been serving as a bridge that carries the warmth and kindness of volunteers and the warmth and kindness of elders into each other’s lives - all in the spirit of a dream to change the world through friendship and put an end to social isolation among people over 65. LBFE welcomes folks of all generations to volunteer including children under 18 volunteering with a parent, young adults, those in mid-life, in retirement and those "glowing" older. Because when it comes to creating meaningful connection in our lives, no matter our age, we all have something to give, something to share and something to receive. The LBFE family embraces the desire of all its members to find purpose, joy and community through friendship. LBFE supports such friendship through its Visiting Volunteer, Phone Companion and Friendship and Flowers programs. For more information, please contact Georgia Afton at 612.746.0732.
